A natural way to nourish your lips with pantry staples. There was a time I had a separate product for everything, lip scrubs included. Most were overly scented, filled with ingredients I didn’t recognize, and not worth the price. Then I realized I already had everything I needed.
This lip scrub comes together in under a minute with a few pantry staples I trust and always have on hand. Simple, natural, and genuinely effective.

Why These Ingredients Work

Sugar
Sugar gently exfoliates dry, flaky skin from the lips without being harsh or abrasive.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil deeply moisturizes and softens, leaving lips feeling nourished rather than stripped.

Honey
Honey is naturally antibacterial and hydrating, helping to soothe and condition at the same time.

Vanilla
Vanilla adds a warmth to the scent that makes this feel like a treat rather than a chore.
Together they create a scrub that takes under a minute to make and replaces a product you’d otherwise have to buy, which is exactly the foundation of the JARS Method.

Simple Lip Scrub with Sugar, Coconut Oil, Honey + Vanilla
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix all ingredients until combined.
- Transfer to jar for storage
Notes
- Use 1–2 times per week to gently exfoliate dry lips
- Apply lightly — let the sugar do the work
- Adjust coconut oil based on your preferred texture
- Store in a small glass jar at room temperature
- Follow with a lip balm for extra hydration
- Can also be used as a quick hand or cuticle scrub

A Few Notes
- Store in a small jar with a lid for up to a few weeks.
- Because this uses natural ingredients, make small batches as needed
- You can adjust the texture by adding more sugar (for exfoliation) or more coconut oil (for moisture)
The Shift
This is what simplifying has looked like for me. Instead of buying a separate product, I make something in a few seconds using ingredients I already trust. It reduces what I bring into my home and keeps my routines grounded in what’s natural and affordable.
You don’t need to change everything at once. Start with one jar. Use it in a few ways. Build from there.
