Peanut butter is one of those things you don’t think twice about buying until you realize it’s just peanuts. One ingredient, a few minutes, and you have something better than anything from the store.
Why I Like Making It at Home
There’s something grounding about making a staple from scratch, especially when it’s this simple.
- Simple: only one ingredient
- All natural: no added seed oils or preservatives
- Budget-friendly: one bag of peanuts can make several jars
- Easy to customize: creamy, chunky, sweet, or salty
This is one of those small shifts that makes everyday life feel a little more intentional.

What You Need
2–3 cups roasted peanuts
Optional:
- pinch of sea salt
- honey for a little sweetness
- a small spoon of coconut oil or olive oil for extra creaminess
Tools I Use:

Homemade Peanut Butter
Equipment
- Food processor or high-speed blender
- Spatula or scraper
- Glass jar for storing
Ingredients
- 2-3 cups roasted peanuts
- 1 pinch sea salt optional
- 1 tsp honey optional
- 1 tsp olive oil or coconut oil optional, for extra creaminess
Instructions
- Add peanuts to a food processor or high-speed blender.
- Blend for 3-5 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. It will look crumbly, then thick, then suddenly smooth and creamy.
- Add salt, honey, or oil if desired and blend briefly to combine.
- For chunky peanut butter, add a small handful of peanuts at the end and pulse a few times.
- Transfer to a glass jar and store in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Roasted peanuts give the best flavor
- Blend longer for extra creamy
- Making it for your dog? Skip all add-ins and use plain peanuts only
- Double batch and give some to friends or family

Simple Ways I Use It
- Spread on toast
- Add to oatmeal
- Blend into smoothies
- Dip apples or dates
- Use in baking or energy bites

A Small Pantry Shift
This is how simple living starts.
Not with a complete reset but with one small change. One ingredient. One jar. One habit that just makes more sense.
