I’ve always been sensitive to scents and particular about what I wear, but it wasn’t until recently that I started paying closer attention to what was actually in conventional perfumes. Many contain synthetic fragrances and ingredients that simply didn’t feel like the right fit for me.
For a while, I stopped wearing perfume altogether because I couldn’t find anything I truly enjoyed. I missed having a signature scent, but I wanted something simpler and made with ingredients I recognized.
That’s what led me to experimenting with natural perfumes made from essential oils.
Now I love being able to reach for a simple scent that coordinates with my outfit while knowing exactly what’s in it. Each one is made with just a handful of ingredients, takes only a few minutes to make, and feels a little different from the next.
If you’re looking for a simple natural perfume alternative, these are the scents currently lined up on my dresser.
1. DIY Bergamot & Eucalyptus Perfume Oil
This was the first perfume I made, and it’s still one of my favorites. Bergamot gives it a bright citrus scent while eucalyptus adds a fresh, clean finish that feels light and uplifting.
It’s simple, refreshing, and one I reach for almost every day.

Perfect for:Â Everyday wear
2. DIY Guava & Pomegranate Perfume Oil
This blend is fruity, soft, and just a little sweeter than the others. It feels fun without being overpowering and has quickly become one of my favorite perfumes to wear during the warmer months.
Whenever I want something bright and a little different, this is usually the one I grab.

Perfect for:Â Spring and summer
3. DIY Guava & Grapefruit Perfume Oil
If you enjoy citrus scents, this blend is worth trying. Grapefruit keeps it light and refreshing while guava adds a subtle sweetness that balances everything out.
It’s fresh, cheerful, and another favorite for daytime wear.

Perfect for:Â Warm weather and daytime wear
4. DIY Tea Tree, Eucalyptus & Rosemary Perfume Oil
If you’re new to making your own perfume, this guide is the best place to start. It covers why I switched to natural perfumes, the simple ingredients I use, and how easy it is to create your own signature scent at home.
It’s the foundation for every perfume recipe you’ll find on The JARS Life.

Perfect for:Â Beginners
Which Natural Perfume Should You Try?
If you’re making your first natural perfume, I’d recommend starting with the bergamot and eucalyptus blend. It’s clean, fresh, and versatile enough to wear every day.
If you prefer fruitier scents, both guava blends are wonderful options. The pomegranate blend is a little softer and sweeter, while grapefruit adds a brighter citrus note.
One of my favorite things about making these perfumes is how simple they are. By changing just a few essential oils, you can create completely different scents while keeping the same easy base recipe.
That’s one of the ideas behind The JARS Life. A few simple ingredients can become several everyday favorites, making it easy to create products you genuinely enjoy using while knowing exactly what’s in them.
I hope one of these scents finds a place on your dresser, too.
